It seems that time moves extremely fast when skies are blue in Seattle. Very rarely do days linger on, slowly plodding towards dusk. Nope, it’s like vacation days at various employers: use ‘em or lose ‘em.

Today, I worked. However, I was able to enjoy a fabulous walk home face first in the sun.

The insane rain has subsided and made way for the flowers to bloom. What a stellar way to kick off a Friday full of productivity and regained sanity with workload. Soon the sunshine will be on my face and winter will be behind me.

Spun has a lot of prospective stuff on the horizon as well. So many things are blooming. I feel like I need another flower / spring reference…

Wednesday night was a 12 hour all night bender of coding for a friend. Thankfully the better part of her site is complete and about ready for launch. Also, I’m actually really glad Seattle worked every last drop of rain out if its system. Man it was soggy there for a quick minute. 90 min of sleep and a few cups of coffee kept me going today where I met with a handful of clients and still managed to put in a solid 8 hours.

Saturday I play.

I’m pretty certain Seattle’s weather is the joker today. Perpetually changing from sun to rain and back again. Just when you think you’ll be needing that umbrella, you look like a goober for carrying a parasol. Just kidding, it’s raining and now you’ve got water all over your face. Thanks Seattle for your bipolar humor. Instead of fluoride, we should put Prozac in your water.

Happy St. Patty’s day. One full of wonder and merriment, Guinness and snow? Oh Seattle how we love your delayed winters and summers. Really, you’re just a couple months begin the rest of the country’s weather patterns.

Today, I’m grateful for the bright green clovers juxtaposed against the massive white snow flakes.

I commuted into work today. Uneventful. In fact, I was only long because I shot a lot of photos. Hwy 99 was a ghost town. Roses still had a healthy coating of ice. Totem poles stood watch over the sunrise and skyline ensuring everything continued as it should.

Now, it rains. A lot. Hopefully folks who had a ton of snow and ice won’t suffer from flooding or additional power outages. Who knew snowpacalypse would actually stick around for a while?

Spun and I love shooting shadow shots. Tonight, after a Guinness run to Safeway, the parking lot had absolutely mesmerizing shadows with vibrantly saturated colors. It really was difficult to orient ourselves for a second. The soft blue of the ambient light was juxtaposed against the sulphur based street lights creating a tension on the white snow unlike anything we’d experienced before. Truly a unique shadow shot.

Day two of working from home. Last night, and even still right now, we’ve been hit by a bunch of sleet. It’s pretty cool actually. The top of the snow that we had is now a sheet of ice, so walking on it is kind of like a big crème brûlée … just without the great vanilla bean deliciousness inside and sugar overload on top.

Out back, we have a chain link fence, keeping blackberry bushes at bay. The fence received a gorgeous dusting of snow, creating cool fills in the base of each diamond. Coupled with the 1/8th of an inch of ice coating leaves, thorns, everything and we’ve got some gorgeous argyle leafsicles.

Today is our nearly annual Seattle Snow-pocalypse. Everything is shut down because, well, we’re not good in the snow. People like to drive busses off ledges, play pinball with their car down steep car lined streets, and cancel school because it “smells like snow.”

We are not a hearty stock. You know what? I’m ok with that. When you have a job that affords you the opportunity to eat chorizo and eggs that your beautiful wife prepares, sit at the table with kittehs snuggled around and kick out tons of good work in front of your glowing computer … why would you want to spend three hours out in the cold with a ton of yahoos who have no idea how to drive in the snow?

Now to find those mini marshmallows…

We’re supposed to get absolutely dumped on tonight with snow here in Seattle. Quite the stark contrast from the warm sandy beaches and turquoise, reef laden waters from a couple days ago. No worries though, just a different kind of beautiful in the grand scheme of things.

Bring the snow.
