The Beastie Boys have been a part of my musical soul for as long as I can remember. Mike D, Adrock and MCA have mixed up some of the best tracks over the decades probably getting more of my air time than any other band.

With the death today of MCA, I feel like a part of my musical soul has shattered a bit.

You’ve inspired thousands of kids to scratch their parents records, wear goofy mustaches and slide over hoods of cars, having 808s hit your chest to the point where your heart remixes itself to the beat enveloping the crowd. You will perpetually remain at the #1 concert for your acoustic set at The Crocodile. You and your crew are masterful musicians and visionaries.

I love how each layer gets stronger and stronger, supporting the frailty and beauty of the elements above. Such a strong column together, bringing joy and life into our home.

I love how the sun plays with our architecture in the house. Today, it got gorgeous, stunning really. Spun and I sat out on the curb, watching minivans go by, browsing through junk mail, bathing in fresh air and warmth.

The sun’s azimuth sometimes passes in perfect alignment with the angle of our railing heading upstairs, casting lengthy parallel shadows down out burnt orange wall. Today was that day.

I love how much the sun loves our home’s revitalized architecture.

I love when Sadie curls up and naps … thankfully, that’s nearly the whole day of often sun filled bliss for her and the rest of us. Today, she curled up beside me as I set up shop in Spun’s studio. Laptop whirring beside her she twitched and slept through hours of design, billing, and coding.

Keep dreaming of the days when you and the rest of your napping friends ruled Mesopotamia.

Wednesday night was a 12 hour all night bender of coding for a friend. Thankfully the better part of her site is complete and about ready for launch. Also, I’m actually really glad Seattle worked every last drop of rain out if its system. Man it was soggy there for a quick minute. 90 min of sleep and a few cups of coffee kept me going today where I met with a handful of clients and still managed to put in a solid 8 hours.

Saturday I play.

Love love love the explosion of color lately. Spring is almost here!

There are times when the small things add up to be massive things, seemingly insurmountable things, vast oceans where you have no compass. Today was that day. So many puddles, so much distraction, so many things accomplished, yet so many left for tomorrow. I felt like I made massive headway, but ended up still standing on the edge of another puddle at the end of it, exhausted and knowing that the rain will keep falling tomorrow, creating more and more to carefully navigate around.

Tomorrow I bring my galoshes to get my splash on in those puddles. Let’s make wakes.

Sadie sleeps a lot. I guess that’s common for cats. When she’s not sleeping, she’s opening closets, yelling, eating, chasing Endo around the house or this. This is her “look at me parents, I’m adorable” pose as she feverishly rolls around on her back rubbing her face. She swishes from one side to the next, over and over until you rub her tummy.

It’s these moments where we find ourselves in love with her, mitigating the guttural yowls she serenades us with much more often. Love you kitteh.

The sun is out in Seattle and for that we are grateful. Spring is just around the corner, freeing us from the annual darkness and gray.

For now we bask in the frosty warmth.

Looooong day working on a handful of projects. Feel a little punch drunk and thankfully, I get to do it all over again tomorrow.

Time to retreat back to the corner for some R&R before the bell rings again.
