So I’ve spent a bunch of time away from the south end of Pike Place Market for the past few weeks, focusing on the waterfront or Belltown and apparently have missed a tremendous amount of amazing art in the alley just off of Pike St next to The Alibi Room and The Gum Wall. Unless there is something amazing that catches my attention next week, I’m going to spend the whole time snapping photos of this explosion of color, wheat paste graffiti, and creativity down there.
Turns out there are other folks out there snapping photos of Seattle graffiti scene pretty regularly, with a much wider focus than my daily commute. Kudos to the guys at Left Coast Letters for documenting so many writers and artists. Seattle’s got a great scene that keeps growing and I’m glad that others are documenting the ebb and flow as well.
So with that, here’s a taste of what will be coming next week.
This was shot right at the very top of cobblestone alley that heads down to the big stuff. The artist is Tnglr and is all over flickr. Pretty sure I’ve shot a bunch of his work in the past. Happy to know who’s doing this style. Keep up the good work man. Oh, one last thing, I love the copy with the fishes, “BP killed my kids.” Always elated to see social issues, newsworthy bits, etc tossed into art for the masses. That one as well as the owl are by Narboo … surprisingly, they’ve got an etsy store too. Small world.
