Today is going to be the perfect Seattle day, sunny and 76°. I returned to the alley behind Roc la Rue, home to some of the best art in Seattle and would likely see in Juxtapoz Magazine or Hi-Fructose Magazine. Today there were a bunch of construction workers setting up for the day to start excavating the empty lot next door. One of the guys who was offloading a bucket asked what I was shooting and I told him about how I snap a photo a day on the way in to work, and this week I was focusing on DESTROY’s graffiti. He had no idea that he/she was all over the city, let alone that there was so much diverse art by one artist. He then said that snapping photos every day probably keeps me fit from hiking all over the city. I agreed.
The back side of the Rendezvous (JewelBox Theater) is slammed with art. A stretched canvas with a creepy woman reviving a white rabbit, skeletons spray painted all over their roll up door, a massive iron skeleton riding a skateboard, wheatpaste, an just your run of the mill graffiti. Gorgeous. Couple that with some long overdue sunshine and I think we’re off to a great start today Seattle.
