There are a few things Seattlites don’t take for granted. Good coffee or tea. A nice documentary. Local food. Technology. Perhaps the highest at that list though is Summer.
And so it began. This year, as erratic as a kid in a silk shirt with his dad’s tie peeling himself off the bleachers to ask that girl to dance, Seattle struck a groove with Summer. We fell in love. We gazed into the wonder of our sun kissed beauty and sighed a warm deep breath. Our reason for toughing through the nine months of fall was revealed.
And so it ends again. The DJ is growing weary of playing Total Eclipse of the Heart and the chaperones are noticing everyone getting a little too friendly with Summer. Time to shut it down. I’m sure we’ll all have our fleeting moment again where we steal a kiss behind the art building or those fated bleachers. It’s a good thing we still have our movies and caffeine.
I’ll hold out for you again Summer. I promise.
