S+S Get Hitched

There are a few perfect days in Seattle. Calm air, clear skies, the teetering of summer ending and something all together new emerging. Generally these days fall in September here in Seattle and it’s a somewhat guarded secret. Would you really want to share the best days of the year with tousands of tourists who just want to run around your city shooting photos and causing traffic jams? I didn’t think so either.

To make this perfect day even more … well, perfect. Spun and I got married. We are officially husband and wife now. She looked stunning. With a necklace she made, a fascinator that we finished the morning of, a beautiful bouquet of flowers and the perfect white dress she was the bride, MY bride of what dreams are made of. Oh and the shoes she wore were stellar. Well played my love!!

In flip flops and toting a bunch of camera gear, we I parked the car and met up with everyone at the Olympic Sculpture Park. We found our location, the rotating ‘&’ directly on the waterfront, and kicked off the ceremony. Libby, our officiant, wrote the most elegant and personal piece for us to not only illustrate the seriousness of our vows, but also the joy that they possess. Flanked by our two witnesses, and new friends of the relationship, Meghan and Charley and our dear friends Teri and John who were documentary film makers for the morning, we had the intimate wedding we truly yearned for. Their wonderful photos can be found here.

Our vows were crafted with love, poetry, references to music, art, cheese and math. The were filled with promises, thanks, joy and adoration. We stood under the ‘&’ and became ‘husband & wife’. Not just simply best friends, or lovers, spiritual sounding boards, or mental equals … we became husband & wife. Forever yoked by a bond so strong that will hopefully transcend time, one that will cultivate deep loving bonds around the world wherever we tarry, one that is based in respect and trust and now has blossomed into the most beautiful flower relationships can offer; a union of two souls.

I love you Spun.
